Disc Resurfacing
Scratched game discs, DVDs and CDs that skip, freeze, or refuse to load. Post them to us and we will resurface them, the same way we treat every game we sell.
Scratched discs skipping, freezing, or refusing to load? Send them to us and we will run them through our resurfacing machine, which polishes the scratches out of the playing surface. Every disc is tested before it goes back to you, the same way we test every game we sell.
Resurfacing does not fix every disc. It works on scratches in the clear underside. It cannot repair a cracked or warped disc, or damage to the label side, because the data layer sits just under the label. If a disc cannot be saved, we will tell you. Choose the number of discs you are sending and we will confirm the postal details with your order.
A disc leaves here when there is nothing left to take out of it. We keep working the surface until every scratch that can be removed has been removed. If it would not go on our own shelf, it is not finished.
We email you the postage address as soon as your order is confirmed. There is no need to contact us first. Write your order number on the parcel, post the discs to that address, and we will send them back once they are done.
Postage to us is yours to arrange. Return postage is worked out at checkout.

Each disc goes through the machine, then is posted back with a note on anything that could not be saved.

The machine does not care whose disc it is. Most weeks it runs for all of these.
Gamers and collectors
Discs out of the loft, op shop finds, and second-hand buys that arrived worse than the listing suggested. PlayStation, Xbox, GameCube and Wii all go through the same machine.
Parents and gift buyers
Children's game discs take a beating. Resurfacing a favourite is usually cheaper than replacing it, and it saves a game that already means something.
Op shops and charity stores
Scratched donations sit on the shelf or go in the bin. Cleaned up, they sell. Send a box and ask about a bulk rate.
Libraries and schools
Lending copies come back marked. Resurfacing a shelf of discs costs far less than replacing the titles, and keeps them in circulation.
Second-hand dealers and game stores
If you buy used stock, you already own the problem. A per-disc trade rate turns discs you would reject into stock you can sell.
DVD, CD and music sellers
It is the same job on a different disc. If you move volume in second-hand DVDs or CDs, get in touch about a rate.

Bulk lots are priced by arrangement. Op shops, libraries, schools, second-hand dealers and other game stores are welcome to ask about a trade rate. Tell us roughly how many discs you have and we will come back to you with a price.
How disc resurfacing works
A disc reads from underneath. The laser passes through the clear plastic to reach the data layer, so a scratch on that surface scatters the beam before it ever gets there, and the console reads an error rather than a game. Nothing is wrong with the data itself.
Resurfacing removes a very fine layer of that plastic and polishes what is left back to clear, so the laser has a straight path again. It is machine work rather than a home polish, which is why a disc that would not load can come back playing and why the kitchen-table fixes rarely last.

How much does disc resurfacing cost?
The tiers are at the top of this page, and the price per disc drops on the larger ones. Sending more than ten discs is priced by arrangement, so use the enquiry form further down.
How do I send my discs to you?
Order the tier that matches how many discs you have. We email you the postage address as soon as your order is confirmed, so there is no need to contact us first. Write your order number on the parcel and post the discs to that address.
Will resurfacing fix a disc that will not load at all?
Sometimes. A disc that fails because the playing surface is scratched often comes back working. A disc that fails for another reason, such as a cracked hub or damage through the label, will not. Either way, we will let you know when it is returned.
Can you fix scratches on the label side?
No. The data layer sits just under the label, so once that side is scratched through, the disc is gone. Resurfacing only works on the clear playing surface.
What happens if a disc cannot be saved?
We tell you. Resurfacing does not fix every disc, and we would rather say so than send back something that still does not play.
Do you resurface discs for shops, libraries and op shops?
Yes. We welcome bulk work from op shops, charity stores, libraries, schools, second-hand dealers and other game stores. Bulk lots are priced by arrangement, so send a rough count through the enquiry form on this page and we will come back with a rate.
Are the games you sell already resurfaced?
Yes. Every game is resurfaced before it is listed, so anything bought from us is ready to play.
