Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction

Mercenaries: Playground of Destruction is an open-world military action game set in a fictionalised North Korea, where players assume the role of a hired mercenary tasked with tracking down a deck of high-value military targets. Working for competing factions while navigating a volatile war zone, players are free to approach missions in their own way, using stealth, firepower, or outright destruction to achieve objectives and earn increasingly lucrative contracts.

The gameplay emphasizes player freedom, offering access to tanks, helicopters, jeeps, airstrikes, and an enormous arsenal of weapons. Nearly every structure can be destroyed, allowing players to create chaos across the battlefield while pursuing targets and completing side missions. Faction relationships influence available opportunities and resources, adding strategic depth to the experience. Its explosive sandbox gameplay, destructible environments, and open-ended mission design helped make it one of the most distinctive military action games on the original Xbox.
