Stealth remains central, with players sneaking past guards, using camouflage, and recruiting captured soldiers to join Snake's growing squad.
Recruited soldiers can be deployed on the battlefield with different specialities, adding a squad building layer on top of the series' usual stealth action. Boss battles against series regulars punctuate the story's progression through a series of tense infiltration missions. With its original story and squad recruitment systems, it stands as one of the most substantial portable Metal Gear entries.
